Audrey Shields is 79 years old and lives on the 14th floor of the NYCHA O’dwyer houses, building # 4. On day 14 post Hurricane Sandy, Audrey and her daughter did not have electricity, heat or hot water; they received running water on day 7. They are using the stove-top burners for heat and Audrey sleeps in long underwear, multiple sweaters and 4 blankets to stay warm at night. Audrey requires a hospital bed to sleep in and a wheelchair to get around. With no electricity to power the elevators in the building, she has not been outside in over 14 days.
